GTI Remote locking woes???

Hi, I've just bought a gti, great car but the remote locking only works from the passenger side of the car?

I can centrally lock the car with the key also from the passenger side but not the drivers side,

I've got a new lock mechanism coming for that side as I think someone has had a go at fixing it before and missed some parts out, I can't see a mechanical way of locking the car with a key on the drivers lock when taken apart?

Am I having remote issues on the drivers side of the car due to the lock mechanism being broke?

My Driver door lock packed up I had to lock it by pushing the button down and unlock it by climbing across from passenger side. Turned out the actuator in the lock was knackered. New lock and now sweet as
