electric water pump
« on: 05 August 2013, 12:39 »
I went to a breaker and one of his employees has a ibiza cupra and it was making a whirring noise (im new to the 1.8t engines) so i asked him what that was and he said its an electric water pump (obviously its pumping water around to cool the engine down) now my question is that could this be fitted to the AGU? or does it already have one? I dont know if the agu has one as i aint drove the car as its not road legal but did have it started for some time to make sure engine is sweet. But didnt hear any noise when i turned it off

no electric water pump on any of the Golf turbos AFAIK, wouldn't be a bad addition though

The engine ibiza cupra is same out mk4 aint it so i presume would fit. How reliable are they tho over the metal blade pumps

I think you have misunderstood the purpose of the pump and the function,
It doesn't replace the mechanical water pump, Its an auxiliary water pump that pumps coolant for 5 mins after the engine is shut off. Not sure how easy it would be to retro fit as the wiring wouldn't be there for it.
