Exhaust Advice
« on: 01 August 2013, 01:49 »
Ok I've been putting off the exhaust for a while (well actually something came up every time I had the cash spare). However as the cat has finally died (the technical definition is: It's F@cked ), my hand has been forced!

Im going with a decat (pretty simple choice). My question is this: which cat back would you recommend?

I'm leaning towards the non res milltek, but there are a few others out there that look reasonable (scorpion & blueflame etc). What are your experiences with these? The cost difference is negligible so I suppose it's down to which will give me the best performance.

Don't get me wrong they are both good exhausts but personally I took mine down to a place called Longlife exhausts, it's all stainless steal hand welded and styled to your spec's. what sound you want weather you want it to increase performance or just to replace as standard. I got mine cat back for £180 and it's a beauty ill get a vid and link it up ASAP so you can have a listen. Take to your nearest they are everywhere and get a quote, no harm there real friendly and real helpful. Oooh and plus they all come with lifetime warrantee!

I'm running a 3" decat with a milltek cat-back and I love it, when driving normally it doesn't drone and isn't loud but when you put your foot down it sounds immense

i have the toyosports decat and Miltek anni with 4" tip, yes its a badge etc but the sound is just amazing after 4k revs and on highways its barely noticeable but when you go from cruising to speeding it gives you that lovely sound you expect to hear. i've also noticed turbo spool at 2k rather that 2.5k revs and i seem to do better on fuel however that can also be down to the hot weather we've been having but ive managed 100 on a quarter tank town driving

My Scorpion non res is loud if you boot it, but at 70mph, silent, and as we never go faster than 70mph I would have to recommended it!
I thought Volkswagens were supposed to be reliable?

Longlife is only as good as the people fitting it. Heard too many horror stories otherwise

Find someone local who has a good reputation, ask to see / hear their work and go from there
