Test drove a boxster today

Felt bad for my golf but the boxster was fun, going to have to be an awesome car to make me part ways with the Golf.

Anyone had any good/bad experiences with them?

Know a couple of people with them.  Epic cars by all accounts..... just don't expect Golf running costs.

know a lad with one. and a few lads with 911's (994 etc). I think there great cars.

think next year a Porsche could be on the cards... was going to get one this year but insurance costs meant I couldn't afford to run one and a cheep car for work.

Depends on the year but I think a lot of earlier ones had engine issues.

IIRC about the only engine issue is oil seals on the crank which mean the motor has to come out.  I don't think there are any issues like Nicasil etc

Oil pumps pack up over a period of time... possibly weeks or months, Dealers and specialists can detect its demise, its at this point the car goes up for sale, rather than the expensive repair

early ones can crack liners. 

intermediate shaft bearing is something to be wear off,  if it's leacking oil out round the bellhouseing  or it looks like it's been steam cleaned run away.

porsche spectalists way over charge for engine work ,   £495  to re liner a cylinder i was quoted     i can have someone else do all 6 for another £45
