gearbox setup when running 300bhp

Hi there. I would like some advice concerning my gearbox.... I have mk4 gti with ko4 at almost 300bhp with a diesel 5th gear but second gear syncro is knackered. Should I rebuild and keep the diesel 5th or swap for a 6 speed? Many thanks
