Missing items?
« on: 02 July 2013, 23:09 »
When I bought my golf I noticed it had a strap in the left hand side of the boot...but nothing in it. What normally lives there?

I don't know for sure but in my merc it was where the first aid kit was located, on mine now I have a digital tyre inflator that is a perfect fit.

It's for the xpensive but useless first aid kit.

I have put my warning triangle and hi-vis vests in there (compulsory for the annual family trip to France!)

I've got a triangle there too. When you are in France, I think you are supposed to have your vests where you can reach them before you have got out of the car, so not in the boot. My Passat has a compartment at the back of each door pocket for them.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Yes, you're right,  they move to the front door bins when over there as well as the fire extinguisher and now the breath test kit

When I ordered my Golf I specified the storage pack which included a pair of nets to secure items to the boot floor and the underside of the parcel shelf.  When I took delivery of my car the straps you mention were holding these nets so I can only assume they're for these optional nets?

these are a nice fit and at £18 from the dealers are reasonably good value (bulb kit also fits in there), took a second out the polo with me abroad this time so i had a spare in the cabin
