Mk2 abf exhaust manifold/downpipe

Hi, just bought a mk3 abf engine, gearbox, loom etc and need to know if I should use the mk3 down pipe/manifold or a mk2 one, or a tsr one? My car has been previously modified and is running a mk3 2.0 8v engine but sits on a mk3 subframe, would using a mk3 sumframe mean that I had to use the more expensive tsr manifold?

you cant use an 8v manifold on a 16v. totally different flange at head but I think the 16v manifold fits the original downpipe fine. best check though. if I was you I would get an abf frontpipe as you need a lambda sensor anyway. that is if your using the original engine management. subframes are same except for rear engine mount point which is different on some of them. if the manifold catchs bulkhead you can get a spacer fitted between manifold and downpipe to sort it. or you can modify rear engine mounts slightly to make room.

I ve read that a 8v mk3 downpipe is same size bore as mk2 16v exhaust but a cat bypass is needed.
I used original mk2 downpipe on mk3 abf manifold bolted straight up.

ah nice 1. I had a feeling they were same 6 bolt flange. wasn't sure about diameter though. you could use mk3 8v downpipe or you could get a boss welded to mk2 downpipe to accept lambda probe?

I bought the boss and lambda off eBay. Boss was few quid lambda bout 15.
I still haven't done this though, one of my many things to do.

I would just cut the boss out of the donor pipe and weld it in to new 1. just cut a 2 inch square out.

Cheers for the responses, found them very useful. I'm hopefully taken the engine out in the next month and will take all the down pipe and cut the pipe past the sensor for ease.
