Boost leak guidance/direction required please
« on: 26 June 2013, 12:27 »
Just put the wife's 1.8T in to have the coil packs done under recall and they do the 'health check' as standard and give you the tick sheets back with quotes for work. Anyway 2 things flung up one of which i knew there was an issue as it keeps flinging the 'preesure drop' code. The points are:-

1- o/s boost hose has leak requires investigation.

Which hose will this be and where do i locate it in the engine bay?

2- o/s drive shaft seal leaking

I take it they will be referring to the seal where the shaft enters the box? Is this easy enough to do? Pull the shaft, remove the old one and drift in a new seal?

Any advice would be much appreciated folks, cheers.

i would take there recommendations with a pinch of salt.
have you scanned the car yourself.
1 - could be the pancake pipe thats an issue, quite common,it sits behind the drivers wheel (as you look at it), cant miss it, you can trace all your piping from there, go over all your joints, clamps etc.

2 - depends wr its leaking from if it the transmission output flange - http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=246439
