D.M.F options for 02M box
« on: 15 June 2013, 14:37 »
So I'm in the process of putting in a replacement engine in my car and thought whilst the new engine is out and accessible I thought I'd put some new oem vw parts on such as cam belt, tensioner, water pump, clutch etc. The new engine has 40.000 miles on it and came with out a flywheel, so my intention was to use my existing flywheel off my old engine which has 96,000 miles on.

How ever the person doing the swap recons that a d.m.f will be near at its end of its life at 96,000 miles especially handling the 240 bhp and 260ft-lbs my car is currently running. So he got a price from vw and at trade price and on a service exchange basis the flywheel alone was over £500  what other options are there apart from OEM that are going to be upto the job!? as bearing in mind I'm going to be upping my power to r-tech stage2+ level shortly so around the 270bhp & 300lbs-ft.

Is there a single mass flywheel option for the 6 speed 02m box?

The same box as the diesels?

A good SMF kit for the 02M diesel box will cost you maybe £1k. That would be for the silent SMF set up, the brand escapes me. People 'need' the silent SMF set up on diesels other wise the car will shake itself to bits, the it quite harsh I believe, this maybe down to it being a diesel, I do not know. So perhaps a petrol wouldn't be so bad...If so then you can get a SMF for that box no problem, at not too much.

Check out darksidedevelopments if it is the diesel box.
