GTD Demo
« on: 10 June 2013, 17:30 »
Anyone in the North Herts area, my dealer tells me that they should have their GTD demo by the end of next week, for your info. They have a GTI there as well (not the white one I drove today but one in the navy blue). And I highly recommend this dealer as they actually let you drive the car rather than nanny it.
Audi RS5 2018
Gone: BMW M4 LCI Competition Package
Previous: Mk 3 Audi TTS, Porsche 981 Cayman S, Mk 7 Golf R, Mk 7 GTI, Mk 6 GTI, Mk 5 GTI and so on....

Maybe we've been getting Week 33/34 because they had their demos in the queue ahead of ours? If that's the case then we could see ours move up a few weeks.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

I hope so. Seems like brokers on the gti's have really early build weeks so im wondering if brokers are getting first dibs on the allocations to keep them sweet?

I'm with a broker.  My BW has gone from 28 (when ordered) to 36 to 37 to 37-39 (as of this week) and reading between the lines I'm expecting it to be 40 next week...

I ordered near the end of April so best case scenario is currently a 6 month wait for me.  I don't dare think about the worst case scenario because those have a habit of becoming the new best case scenario a couple of weeks later...

Not helpful to you I know but this was quite common with the mk6 GTI release. Some (not all) brokers were promising deliveries on cars when they had no allocation from dealers and zero hope of getting any for many months. Typically the brokers would just fob off their 'customers' by putting back their estimated build date by a few weeks and blaming VW because VW put any broker orders to the back of the queue.
They got their cars in the end though, 8 - 9 months in some cases.

Other brokers managed to get normal lead time orders and all was OK. The broker route is a massive gamble, it can work well and save you quite a bit of money or it can cause long, long delays especially with a very high demand/low supply car such as the GTI.

Once you get a confirmed build week then you should be OK, getting there may require some patience.
Mk7 GTI. DBP, DCC, Winter pack. Mine since new, July 2013.
GTI no. 4. Golf no. 5.  VW no. 7.

Appreciate the info but I don't think this applies to me in the same way as you describe.

The broker handed me over to a dealer around the last week of April who I asked about delivery before signing the paperwork.  I was told to expect delivery wk28-32 (which I rounded to 30 in my above post).  I did expect this to slip a bit and was preparing myself to discuss if they would keep the car until September plates if it arrived mid August.

Since then my dealer has progressively pushed my estimated BW back more and more so that, thus far, for every week that passes I find the estimated date has moved back by more than a week such that I am forever getting further from the delivery date, not closer!

The dealer has allocation, and has sent me a screen cap of the order progress view their system has because at one point they (mistakenly) thought I was accusing them of holding off on placing the order.  According to them it is VW constantly shuffling the build schedule but neither the dealer, nor VWUK seem to be able to find out why there is this constant changing, or more specifically delayed, build schedule.  VW Germany (or UK for that matter) certainly don't know that my order was reached using a broker.  They may know it is an order with a fleet sales department... I can't see why this would be treated any differently though!

What I'm saying is, in my experience, brokers are not getting first dibs, nor are they being shunted to the back of the queue.

Saw the Blue GTI driving right at me when came into the town at 1400! was anyone here driving it? as can vouch the roads on that route are awful! - Not much at the garage as being refurbished so did not get to see it in flesh but it was just as passing visit so nothing lost.
