didnt think it would be that simple just cutting the spare wheel bit out but i may be wrong but looking at some of the picts on the memory stick i got with mine it looks alot of work 
i dont mean just cut out the circular bit, i mean drill all the spot welds out from just the boot floor section. i had a look in my boot and all the spot welds are accessable from the boot for just that panel.
i thought the rear diff mounted on that panel hence the shallower well. suspension mounting points i assume are the same..
