throttle body

Quick q im going to clean the throttle body on the 4mo. Do i need to realign with vagcom i was thinking cleaning it while its still connected up. Just put brick on accelarator pedal to open the butterfly.. if i defo need use vagcom will have to wait till next weekend then as my vagcom aint workin thanks to windows 7  so will have to take trip to my sisters and take over the driveway

is the 4mo drive by wire?
if it`s drive by wire, the brick on throttle method wont work anyway..lol
also if it is drive by wire then i think vag com WILL be needed to re-align the throttle body.
if it`s cable then it should self adjust, what i did was disconnect the battery for about a minuite, reconnect it, then turn the ignition on but DO NOT start. you will hear the stepper motor in the TB buzzing while its adjusting for about 30 secs (guesstimated) then start the engine once the buzzing has gone for it to calibrate. Thats only if its cable of course and seemed to work on my AGU.

Its drive by wire bud. Yh i know agu realigns itself.

Will just take throttle body off and vagcom next weekend then

Brick on the TB will work, I did it on mine so can confirm this. Ideally it needs realigning but it will sort itself out after a certain amount of miles, so it's your own choice.

Just for reference I didn't use vagcom and I had no problems, but obviously can't confirm this will be the same for you.

Will see if i can get vagcom work on another laptop if i can will just take it off ..if not brick it is

I cheated and got the boy to put his foot on accelerator for me to give it a quick clean and seems ok ,but going to see my mate over weekend so going to get it realigned just to be sure lol,as have noticed it does idle higher now on start up than before i done it
