Twin central exhausts (like the old R32)
« on: 16 May 2013, 14:57 »
Don't know if anybody else spotted this from the video clip CraigW posted in New GTI Reviews?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=GB&hl=en&client=mv-google&v=iIuqC1y6jag&nomobile=1

The Golf which appears 6:22 in has a twin central exhaust and looks fabulous  (just like an old R32)

The text on the number plate say 'Original Zubehör'. Google translate says 'Original Accessories'.

Any guesses as to which model this is and why the fantastic looking twin exhaust wasn't fitted to the GTI/GTD? (or offered as an option)

Colour of the car... Tungsten Silver perhaps? (quite nice)
Current: BMW M140i / ZF8 / 5 DR

I prefer the twin split exhaust that we have at the mo, but saying that it does look the nuts.  I'm looking forward to the quad exhausts on the R!

Same here, prefer the standard GTI exhaust setup, but quad pipeage definitely looks mean!

+1 that's my point. How does that TSI car in the video have twin chrome exhausts?

I think quads that are two sets of twin chrome pipes with large flanges that really stand out might be a bit much for a small car like the Golf.  But, if they were thin black pipes, set tighter into the body, and baloney cut to follow any contours, that could like quite nice and understated.

Think quad pipes on a 2L is a bit naff, even on the AMG45. Still have my reservations if there will be 4 pipes on the R, guess we'll see soon enough.
