MK2 Golf Speedo Cog, confusion.

Need some advice. On the gearbox end of the speedo cable what holds the cog ^(ref1) onto the cable?

It seems mine gone walkabouts inside the gearbox. Borescope time.

On mine its a standard pitch and its an m6 with a 10mm hex head.

Any further advances? Weird pitch being a M7 1.25.
