URGENT : Braided hoses.
« on: 02 August 2005, 13:42 »
Just changing brakes on the car , it appears one side doesnt have braided hoses for some reason so i have gone out and bought some.

What is the process of now fitting them ?

Do i rid the whole brake system of fluid ??? Then fit the hoses...

Your help and guidance much appreciated...

You wont need to drain the whole system but you will need to bleed it once the new lines are fitted.

It wont come Pi$$ing out, will just dribble a bit. So you bount to loose a bit but not much at all. Just top up and bleed the system once the new lines are on.

its never a bad idea to change your brake fluid anyway, so if you have to drain it then its just a good excuse to top it up with new fluid.
team grumpy....... its a way of life, not a forum post

Well, the story goes ... bought the car last week (or just over) ... got receipts for it from work done , one set from Awesome and the braided hoses were included on that. I also have receipts for other work done after the work at Awesome. Between that time a braided hose has gone somewhere and been replaced with a rubber one.

Anyway, nothing can be done about that... car went in for MOT last week and failed due to a few minor things. One issue that came up was 400lbs braking pressure on one side of front and 300lbs braking pressure on other side. I know have a good idea at what was causing this ... low and behold , probably the braided hose or lack of. Due to braided hoses not being sold in singles , i had to be a new set today..

So today, got new discs and pads on up front and new braided hoses on .... tommorrow, going to be doing new discs and pads, bearings and replacing the braided (hopefully) / or rubber hoses for the new braided ones i bought , new handbrake cables and redo brake fluid for the dot 4 super stuff i have.
