Help!!! car won't start

Hi guys

my 16v gti won't start. when I turn the key over the car makes a whining noise and the abs light comes on. I have not started the car for a week, I recently had a problem where the abs light would stay on all the time had the sensors replaced at a garage and the abs worked fine. any ideas guys? could it be the battery? Cheers

I would start with a simple jump start mate. Do you have some jump leads and a mates car you can jump it off?

As for ABS light, don't know. They are problematic on the MK3 thus majority of the ABS lights have been disconnected!

Hi mate thanks for the reply. not had this car very long, when i bought it the abs light would stay on all the time, took  it to a garage and the guy told me both front left and rear left back sensors needed replacing. Had the work carried out and the abs worked fine, picked the car up from the garage and left it parked for a week now won't start. Could it be something to do with the abs?

won't be to do with the ABS mate it's either battery has failed (could be old ) like godzilla said try jump start after you know its not battery then we shall all go through next possibilities
