wont idle

hi there i am new to this site so not sure if i have done this right i was wondering if any one can help me i have a mk3 golf gti 2l 16v i have had in two different garages now went in for rocker cover gasket done and come out worse than it was all the wires at the bk of the rocker got burnt so wouldnt run it went to a different garage yesterday got every thing sorted but it wont idle now there is a little breather pipe at the front of the engine that goes into a black box were the breathers go the smallest pipe has broke of at the black box does anyone know if this could be the problem if not does anyone know what the problem could be thanks paul

Just posted in another thread as well mate, First of all check your fuses, There located under the steering wheel to the right, counting from the left to the right check number 15 engine electronics fuse... Could be blown!

A breather pipe being off normally makes the car rev higher to my knowledge!

makes is quite difficult to read...

hi ther i just want to say a big thankyou to you i just checked the fuse and it was blown so it is ticking over nicely now thankyou paul you are a top banana cheers

No worries mate glad to be of help :) If it happens again it could be the sign of one of the sensors going, or maybe an exposed wiring that's blowing the fuse when it comes in contact with water, for now I'd just say you was unlucky as I was lol!
