Hi all looking forward for an mk4
« on: 21 January 2013, 12:57 »
Hi all, i'm new around here  my friends call me K. and i have passed my test a couple of weeks ago i'm 26. at the moment and i'm Hungarian lad living in Northampton for the last 4 year and im a Web and Graphic Designer and IT Tech.

I was browsing classified websites and i see what i like.
My uncle had a 2.0 mk4 from 2000 and i loved it so i said il get one.

I am  looking to spend round £1500 for a VW GOLF MK4 from around 2000.
Now i have seen good 1.6 and 1.9 gt tdi and don't know what to go for.
for 1300 pounds i have seen a full service history 1.6 se silver 1 owner at 100k miles
and around 1500 loads of gt tdi 1.9 with loads of miles like between .140k and 200k.

this is my first car and insurance fr these for me is around 1400 pounds and really that is the top for me max £3000 in total.

I am working in a local village which is a 25 mile trip there and back and don't know if shell i go after a TDI or a petrol one.
Most of the time trips will be to work and gym and back so shell i  get a petrol one or a tdi one.

I HAVE NO IDEA please help.
Also i m am looking to buy one if someone here knows a good garage where people are trustworthy.

Regards,
K

I wudnt say petrol is any more reliable or unreliable than a diesel...it's just a personal preference tbh. The diesel wud get you further and if cost and miles are a factor in your decision then I wud strongly recommend the dirty burner, besides if you require more fun say in the future then there's always a remap..

Ok I'm looking at a gt tdi I will pick up maybe end of this week.
It's a 3dr gt tdi basic no mods 150k on clock 3 owners full service clean interior and good exterior.
Do you guys think its a lot of miles for £1600

Cheers
