Heating
« on: 16 January 2013, 11:06 »
I've had a good search and I haven't found the answer that I was looking for.

I've got a TDI, its the 115 one. It's my first diesel so I'm not familiar with the differences compared to a petrol.

So the hot air... I've learnt that it takes longer to heat up but how hot should it get? Cause mine doesn't seem to ever get as hot as other cars I've had, even after a 2 hour trip on the motorway.

It always sits about two marks away from 90. Not sure what temperature that is. My brothers mk4 gti sits on the 90 mark and the air gets really hot, mine just feels hot...ish.

Is something wrong or this normal?

fooked thermostat?

:undecided: Not sure, does it sound that way?

I'm not even sure if I have a problem or whether this is something I should just get used to. I'd be happy if it was broken in some way, then I could have it fixed and have hotter air :D

Is the thermostat a big job?

If the engine isnt getting upto normal temp 90.. then i would suggest the thermostat.. altho never having owned a dirty diesel a wouldnt know if it was the same as the petrol motors.

if its just the heaters alone.. could be the matrix.. or god knows what else...

helpful as ever

As others have said, thermostat.
