Hi guys, I was wondering if anybody could give me some help with my university report. I'm studying Product Design and Technology and am in my first year. The brief for our report was to talk about ergonomic related aspects to do with something you are passionate about (so I chose to base mine on automotive interiors). On of my aims is "To explain how the H-point (hip-point) influences the design of an automotive interior", and it has been quite challenging so far to find any information on this - all there really is is an unreliable and rudimentary wikipedea page on it and anything else on the internet is either about a book called "H-Point" or how automotive test dummy machines have developed over the years. I am going to visit my local library tomorrow  ( :nerd:) for books on automotive design etc, but don't hold much hope for it. The main questions which I have for you are:

H-point:

1) What percentile values are used to calculate the H-point measurements (Wikipedia says its 50th percentile Males but I'm not sure if its correct, and if it is, why?)

2) How the H-point influences the design of and automotive interior (the features which it influences and how it influences them). I'm trying to see how the H-point influences design features such as: safety, airbag/restraint design, collision performance, interior packaging, comfort, visibility, aerodynamics and ease of entrance into /exit from vehicle etc.

Just wondering if anyone can help with this (probably not I'm guessing, but its worth a try  :undecided:).

Read the book and interpret it in your report.

Anything else and you're wasting your time.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
