non gti model brake Q?
« on: 01 January 2013, 16:37 »
quick simple question for those in the know
my 1.9tdi estate has drums on the back and im going to convert the car to GTI brakes which obviously involves converting alot of the rear brake assembly's

my question is, will i need to run a further brake line down to the rear of the car? or is there already one fitted ?
logic says yes but knowledge makes me want to double check with out going and laying in a puddle to check
if so will this mean i will have to get a brakebooster off a GTI/VR6 ?
thanks

Why are you changing the rear brake set up,  aesthetics?  If its for performance reasons i think you're wasting your time as the standard GTI  rear disc setup is crap imo. If anything its less reliable than drums because you dont have any calipers to seize,  which they generally do.

Better in the long run to stick with drums.
