abf oil pump (Update)

Right after a few weeks decided to put a new head and block in the car which come with 90 day warranty. Better for my pockets in the long run. Just had new new rocker cover gasket ,new camshaft seal , new manifold and inlet manifold gaskets, new water pump and thermostat, cambelt kit, aux belts, power steering fluid , gearbox oil , engine oil, coolant, new oil pump and oil filter, temp switches and oil pressure switches, new battery , plugs, also got a standard airbox which has been smoothed with a new air filter. Also while the engine was out cleaned and painted the gearbox , rocker cover and inlet manifold .Should be running sweet as a nut now :smiley:

Cheers thai thx for the reply. I thought it was but just wanted peace of mind as i think i will be replacing it . The oil light is flashing, topped the oil up with fresh oil and filter. Just ordered a pressure switch but i can hear a slight whirring noise at idle so i think it could be the oil pump?

I would stop using it asap if you do have low pressure.

Basically i bought a mk3 golf gti 16v to break for parts but when i had a good look over it , it is very clean so ive decided to get the repair work done . It had no oil in it and is very tappy, since putting oil in it it has really quietend down. The car is currently sorn so it isnt getting used.It also come with other problems such as a leaking sunroof which i have just ordered and awaiting delivery. So today i stripped out the headlining ready for refitting. Also the central locking doesnt work and cant even lock the drivers door with the key i checked the fuse but all is ok . I then checked the central locking pump and was totally filled up with water so am assuming its the pump causing the problem?
