Audi a3 non start immobiliser fault PLEASE HELP
« on: 30 November 2012, 07:46 »
Hi I know it's not a mk4 but its a w reg 2000 audi a3 1.8 non turbo and I know how helpful you guys are and have helped me out in the past with my golf turbo. Basically my Partners car starts and runs for 2 secs and cuts out, the milage on the clocks or the time are not on the dash it only has the basic warning lights working like battery EML and handbrake light working etc. there is a fault code on the system 17978 which is engine start blocked by immobiliser, I've checked all fuses(ok) my guess would be the clocks/dash it's self at fault, can anyone shed any light.

If it is the dash is anyone in Wigan/chorley/Preston area that has a fully working vag-com that can code a new/used dash :) ,as I don't want to go the dealer as I work. At a ford dealer and I know how much of a rip off the dealers are.

I've found some clocks so I will plug then in tonight and if they all light up etc I will need a nice member to code them any takers?? I can pick someone up and take them back home when they have done the job of need be, like I say I just don't fancy paying a dealer as they are a rip.
