the lights didnt flash when i locked the car, so took to my mates at VW and ran a cheeky diagnositics when he was on lunch, found a few engine splutter codes and old codes that the previous money wrenching garage i took it to on my first service did not remove, funnily enough after removing these codes all my interior lights started working properly and both puddle lights worked, he then reset the alarm with the above process and hey presto its worked...has had its odd moment when i have had to reset it but it all works and also that annoying passenger side module that cause the lock to pop open when using the convienience controls has stopped happening for the last month as well

Yea, all closed and everything.

Just to be sure, where's the bonnet switch? I looked, couldn't see one. It's not in the mechanism is it like the how doors are done?

its normaly a handle operated cable for bonnet, i think you may have to take all the doors off and either re-solder your modules or replace them as it sounds like theres a loose/broke connection somewhere  :undecided: and you've checked for codes?

I wondered though if there were a switch to sense if the bonnet were left open.

As for the left hand door, it's a faulty micro switch, usually is, there's rarely anything to solder.

I replaced the right hand switch and sorted that one out. The door switches wear as they're plastic and they operate from a metal cam in the door mechanism.

i only know of the boot sensor  :undecided: it could be a case of opening up your doors then unless theres a bright spark out there who knows something we dont. i would personally take the doors apart, check everything and disconnect and then reconnect the battery, atleast you know you've done all the basics and reset everything
