Yellow steering light on dash cluster
« on: 12 November 2012, 19:26 »
I'm due to look at a mk5 gti tomorrow or Wednesday and have asked the seller to send me a load of pics, 1 of which showed the dash cluster with the engine running and a yellow steering wheel, does anyone know what could be the cause of this and what the cost will be to fix? Any help would be appreciated as I don't fancy driving the 300 mile round trip to find out its a costly repair, thanks

if he/she has only just reset the ecu then until you drive the car, that light will stay on.. as soon as the car starts moving it should disappear, its the warning light for the assisted steering

if its the steering angle sensor or steering torque sensor faulty then you could be in to a bill for a couple of hundred quid by the time it's fitted and calibrated
