i did the hybrid conversion to my mk2 as i kept killing my KR engines, i didn't fit the loom as i didn't buy it with the engine, i had never had an engine last more than 8k until i fitted the ABF, i never got oil pissing down the breather with the ABF and i did the hybrid way as it seemed the easiest and best option for tweaking further down the line, that was the only engine i removed form my mk2 in full working order after 15k miles happily driving it hard, i fitted a VR after the ABF and other than noise and top end speed they were pretty much the same when driven hard, obviously fitting a VR is a full engine loom job and i have done many conversions before and after, infact i just converted a fellow members mk2 1.6 to the mk2 2.0 gti engine, that was a full tank swap as well as the engine and loom so i didn't do the hybrid cos i was "scared" of wires, i was just commenting from personal experience, i never got any of the engines rolling roaded so no idea what actual power they were running but was told that it felt a lot quicker and more torquey than the KR, it also made a lot more mpg on motorway runs too, again i don't know what a digi controlled ABF would have one in the same car
