Strange electric thing!

The rubbish green light that illuminates the heater dials in my golf has not worked since I had it,I always assumed the bulb was blown so just went out to swap for one I had kicking around but nothing......every other illuminated switch works accept the heated rear screen green light, the orange heated rear screen light works . Just wounded if anyone else had any ideas? My head light flashers also don't work which I'm going to swap the flasher stalk next week .....is it possible all these are connected? I'm guessing not as that would make no sense?

It's easier to just change the heater panel out for another one, the bulb is quite fiddly to get out and there is piece of clear plastic that spreads the light to the outer dials that falls apart as soon as you breath on it.

I've got that all out, the problem is when I plug the new bulb in its still not lighting up
