Headlight help again!
« on: 24 September 2012, 07:24 »
Ive checked the maintenance section but cant find the answer so hopIng one of you lot will know. Basically i have all lights working on mt head lights apart from the main beam/flashers. When i pull the stalk literally nothing happens, no light on the dash and mo main beam. I have swapped the bulbs but no change. I had a look at the fuses but both seem ok. Am i right in thinking its relay 53? (i tried to tead the wiring guide on here but it melted my eyes) i had exactly the same issue on my old golf and never got to the bottom of it. Running dual chamber GTI lights and i have that bridge thing in place on the relay/fuse board

Sounds like it could be the stalk itself  :undecided:

Is there a way to test that before going down the replacing it route?

Find the pins on the switchgear that correspond to the high-beams and get the multimeter on it on continuity mode
I wish I could tell you which pins to check but I don't know without fannying around taking mine apart
