FAO Any plumbers on here...
« on: 24 September 2012, 21:46 »
Wondering if any plumbers on here could give me some advice?

The radiator in my room does not come on/get warm.
It didn't need bleeding, water came out in a regular stream with no air.
The thermostat plunger goes up and down easily and I've fiddled with the other valve too, nothing has changed.

Any advice on what I can do to make it work properly?
Now the nights are getting colder it's proving more difficult to get out of bed for work in the mornings!

Yeah, I fiddled with that and loosened it/opened it  :undecided:
Found somewhere online saying to turn off all radiators in the house apart from the one not working and see if it comes on, then gradually turn each one on?

Had same problem with one of mine. It was the thermostat stuck. Took the plastic housing off and played with it for ages. Hitting with a hammer etc. it did work after that funny enough.

But I've just changed the boiler and put a new thermostat on the radiator at the same time.

I had to drain it so might as well do it.

Is the house rented? Be easier for you if it is.

Yes, balancing.

Balance by the lock sheilds. Shut the ones nearest the boiler/pump, open the ones up to full that are furthest away.

Work your way through by shutting down a little by little the furthest and opening up little by little the closest ones that have been actioned as above until all get warm together, with the thermo rad valves all set to the same, to ensure requested flow is the same.
80% of your posts are total tripe, as they are mostly replies to sh1te posts created by the morons that, unfortunately this forum attracts.

Cheers for the advice everyone!

Seems like the classic 'turn it off then on again' seemed to work.

The central heating got turned off last night, I turned it on this morning and my radiator came on!
Not sure whether it was something to do with the thermostat on my radiator being on full when the central heating came on or something to do with me arsing about with the lockshield, but it's now warm!
