ID Black Paint Variant
« on: 30 September 2012, 14:19 »
Hi,

I am trying to identify which variation of black paint I have on my MK5 Golf, with a view to buying a touch up kit.  Unfortunately the sticker under the carpet in the boot has suffered some wear and tear and is half missing, and there is no mention of the colour code in the handbook or any other location I have been advised to look.  I am now trying it ID it just by looking at it.

I know it is going to be one of the following:

LC9Z - Black Magic aka Diamond Black
LC9X - Deep Black

I have a feeling it is LC9Z but I feel I need a few expert opinions.

I have taken a quick photo with my phone which is below, (clicking the image should open it full size)

If I was to describe the colour I would say it is black with metallic (almost gold looking) specs within it.

Can anyone confidently ID my paint job?

Also, can anyone explain the difference between the two blacks mentioned above?

Any help would be gratefully received.

Thanks.

The sister sticker to the boot sticker should be mounted on the first few pages of the service book!
A phone call to your local VW dealer parts dept., and quote the registration number, they will immediately be able to tell you what colour your car is...
