Scorpion Alarm?!?! Help
« on: 08 October 2003, 13:59 »
I have Just got round to replacing my Scorpion alarm fob from vw, my only problem is that is doesnt work the alarm or central locking, the problem is i havnt used the alarm fob for a good few months (trying to find a cheaper replacement than VW) VW said try adjusting the frequency screw in the fob ... didnt work!

VW now suggest taking the car in so thay can look but it might mean sending the alarm unit back to scorpion which takes 4 weeks ? anyone got any suggestion?

Hi, I have a problem with my alarm, I have 2 fobs, one works when it feels like, it lights up but somtimes it takes ages to turn the alarm off, and the other doesnt light up at all! I went to vw and they said that I would have to book the car in and they would take the alarm out and send it to scorpion, they was going to charge me ?100 to take the alarm out and another ?100 to put it back in and another ?40 for a new fob! I said I can take the alarm out myself, but they wouldnt have any of it! Well ?240 will buy me a new alarm, so I contacted scorpion myself, and they said return the fob and they will sort it out for me, I havnt done it yet but i will send to them instead of lining vw pockets again!

Unfortunatly what VW told you is true. I have enquired at LOADS of places and they all come back with the same thing. I take it the alarm fob has three prongs on one side of it ?

You will have to send both the alarm and the fob back to scorpion to get new ones made , something to do with the early days of thatcham. I dont even know where the alarm is located otherwise i would probably take it out myself.

I did think about driving up to manchester and getting them to do it on the spot if possible.

In theory the car would be off the road whilst this was taking place. My local VW garage wanted 4 hours work at 65 pound an hour just to get the alarm out  and back in again.
