Running on 3
« on: 27 August 2012, 10:50 »
Hi Guys,

Went out to DES last night, got the car up to temperature and came to a stop, such is the isle of man. I turned the car off and popped to a cash machine, I started it back up and it was running on 3. I then went around a few pubs and came back to it (cold) and it ran fine. Drove back home and got it up to temperature and again turned it off and on again and it started running on three. Suggestions anyone?

Other issue is that I lowered it a little while ago, 40mm springs on standard shocks, new topmounts, new shocks, new wishbones. The driver's side wheel seems to poke out and is more cambered than the left, I thought it was the spring initially but I've tried a different set of springs and it still seems different to the passenger side. What else should I change?

Cheers

James

the two adjusting bolts on the shocker might not be lined up right, would explain off camber loosen them off and try pulling it in or out till it's straight

is it an 8v or 16v? usually coil breaking down when warm gives the misfire

where abouts in IoM are you? i used to live over there between 2002 - 2004. there is a fella Russ, old skool VW mechanic used to do the work on my 16v, he was in Douglas. no idea if he is still there, or might even be retired!

8v, it doesnt misfire (until this morning) until the ignition has been turned off and on again. I live in Braddan near the church. I'll see if I can get a new coil for it.

Cheers

Right, I've been driving it over the past few days. Here's what i've noticed. Driving the car it seems to miss occasionally under load, when I take it over 5k it misses alot. When I change up it runs roughly, does this sound like the knock sensor to other people?
