Hello from Truro
« on: 09 August 2012, 20:48 »
Hi there, I'm a 55yr old "kid" who has recently bought a '95 3 door Golf GTi 16v. It was a £500 bargain buy on ebay, taxed and tested.

It's a solid little motor, the bodywork is fine but the lacquer is peeling like so many of the same red ones I see around.

I'm amazed how good the fuel economy is, and the worst return I've had is 36mpg, measured on a full tank fill up, every 10 days. I admit, my right foot isn't as heavy as it was in my younger days, but I still like to make her scream along the A30.

I should have got one years ago, but a succession of company cars and lack of garage and drive space has delayed my aquisition.

The Mk3 is my favourite Golf. I've seen a cheap VR6 (only £1200) and might add to my "fleet".

I'll let you know

It's not my first VW but my first GTi. We've had 5 Golfs over the years, only just scrapped a 1.8CL that was just going to cost too much to keep on the road.

This is our 4th mk3, and previously had a mk2 1.8 auto. It's always been my favourite version
