Electrical problems
« on: 13 August 2012, 17:28 »
Hi I'm Damian, I've recently bought a Golf GTI and registered on here.

I've never owned a golf before so I'm not sure on what they should be doing/shouldn't doing etc and searching this forum as well as others doesn't really give me an answer for the issues I've got with the car.

Firstly, do mk4 golfs come with an alarm (siren) as standard? I know within my car there isn't a button to turn off the internal sensors but what about externally?

The car has a standard, cd player with tape radio player underneath. As soon as I remove key from ignition, a light near the on/off knob I think it is flashes, is that a immobiliser light as well?

The current issue I am mainly having is with the central locking and drivers door but before you guys say its a door module there is another factor which I will come onto later. The passenger puddle comes on and goes out fine, the drivers puddle light stays on all the time regardless of open/closed, locked/unlocked. When the light switch is activated to come on/go off when the door is open/closed, the lights are on all the time regardless of open/closed, locked/unlocked and that is lights at the front near the rear view mirror and the rear lights above the windows (3 door) so you would assume it thinks the drivers door is unlocked/open and is not switching off the circuit??? My other issue/s are the two vw fobs only unlock the car, the lock button on either fob does nothing (batteries have been changed and re-synced) but the car came with an additional fob which looks as though its a cheap eBay purchase that just is central locking. So when you use the cheap eBay fob it locks and unlocks all the car fine (its what I have to use in order to lock/unlock) but when doing so the cars lights don't flash to indicate its alarmed/immobilised and the light on the door doesn't flash either. Could this cheap eBay fob confuse/interfere, mess up the vw fobs, immobiliser light flashing, door lighting or a combination of the cheap fob and door module?

Thanks

Damian
