Cutting out problem
« on: 27 July 2012, 23:56 »
1.4 AHW Golf

Problem started a few days ago, I would be driving along and the car would cut out a couple of times but after a while of driving it would be alright, and sometimes when I first start the car it like judders and most the lights on the dash come on and the car shakes like mad then cuts out but starts 1st time no problems after that.

I thought it would be the throttle body so I took it to a garage and had the throttle body cleaned, got the car back and the car was fine all day and night I thought the problem had been cured but the next morning the problem happened again! Can't even get it diagnosed because my mechanics laptop has broken so waiting to put it on diagnostics but just wondering if anyones had any similar problems or might know what the problem is?

The air flow sensor is Connected. To the air box and I always use Carb cleaner but be very careful as they are very delicate and if the wire breaks u will be screwed

Had it diagnosed today and nothing, but he told my my airbox was missing screws which might of been letting to much air in, so I changed my airbox and screwed it all in, drove a few miles and coming to a stop at a traffic light and it decided to cut off again (always shows the ABS light when cutting out) and it's always when I'm slowing down changing gear doesn't happen when I just drive

Anyway I also changed the battery fuse box as he said it had been bodged and there was a fuse missing, so replaced that and drove about 10 miles since then and hasn't cut out, I still reckon tomorrow it'll cut out but so far so good.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this if the battery fuse box hasn't cured it? Nothing at all comes up on Vagcom!!
