hi folks just wondered what everyones opinion is on the best engine to have appeared in a golf(all era's, from mk1 to rallye to the mk6) and why?

i go for the vr6, the noise OMG! so horny!

That would depend on which era your looking at IMO....

8v 1.8 in a MK1??
16v in a MK2??
VR6 in a MK3 - To overcome the weight issue??
1.8T in a MK4

Etc Etc.....

MK2 is still the best ever built Golf IMO To Leave The Factory....  :wink:

The 16v engine in the Mk2 was great, my favourite car to own and drive, better than my Mk3 16v.

Would love to know what the 16vG60 was like to drive.

I think if its just engine and dont go by the car I love the VR6 lump just sounds awsome and pulls really well,if its engine and car the 8v mk1 gti only a 8v I know but it that little Golf it was so much fun to drive and you could rev the nutz out of it.
