K & N induction kit / Oil top up query

hi guys, I'm thinking of putting on a K & N induction kit to mate with my Jetex cat Back mild steel system, will I need to get it tuned up so it runs properly?
will I see any real benefits?
I'm only putting it on cos it was given to me for nowt and its unused.

Also,  I have a MK3 Golf TDI, 110k miles on it, and hasn't needed any oil topping up in last 6 months even though I cover 200 miles a week.

I have a k&n on my gti with a Magnex ss cat back system and I did see a difference. It was not that much but low end response was better.

I had a Pug 306 Dturbo with 90k and it never needed a top up. I just chnaged the oil every year/10k and it was cool. People i've spoken to found the same and some had to top up quite often. On average I was covering over 250 a week in the Pug.
