Well its been 4months since i last drove my MKII GTI, the head gasket went in feburary, so i decided to tackel the quest myself, with some help from a friend......
after pricing up some parts to do the gasket,i worked out the price and it was cheaper to replace the engine,
so i got myself a 1.8 8v engine from a local guy and off we went!!!!
after a week or so of just a few hours work the propper work started, got the old engine out, and realised that the engine i got was totally wrong!
so after a little looking and chatting to a few guys i found that the 2.0 8v passat engine was really cheap to buy and went in with no probs,
2 months passed and the engine was in but we couldnt get the bloody thing to fire propperly! so it went off to a VW specalised and got it all running, got it back and realised that whilst it had been offf the road the tax and MOT had both ran out!!!! so its now at the test station waiting to be re-tested! and hopefully by 4pm, i will have a MOT and some tax so i can drive the golf after 4months of absolute torture!!!!!
