Water/Methanol injection - what water to use?
« on: 02 June 2012, 11:42 »
As above what are the recommendations?

De-ionised? Distilled? Bottled?

I came across these discussions on the Devils Own forum which were interesting

Personally I'd run distilled water without doubt. There are alot of areas of hard water in the UK, and its only a matter of a couple of months before limescale will have an affect on the injector nozzles. Look at the bottom of your kettle and you'll get an idea of how bad it is. Its not too bad down here, but I know in Bristol for instance its really bad. My mum gets a new kettle on an annual basis, and I washed my car once up there without drying it straight away. What a nightmare trying to get rid of those water marks! You can pick distilled water up from Halfords too so its pretty readily available. Lots of hardware stores usually have it too.

yeah we're a hard water area down here so I wouldn't just use it straight out of a tap. I know how to distil tap water using an old kettle but would that still leave it hard or would the scale be left in the kettle?

Hurst's Wes for De-Ionised stuff, could not get distilled water ANYWHERE.

Drove round the whole island trying to find some, believe me.

Bottled water apparently too?

Business opportunity lol

Might pick some up on the way to Inters this year

Thinking about it, water from a de-humidifier is distilled... Could always set my parents one up at work and just leave it running  :smug:

That's De-Ionised at Halfords..

There is a difference, whether it makes any in this instance is debatable, highly.
