Tyre pressure button
« on: 11 June 2012, 09:28 »
Hi guys

Bit of a weird one, my tyre pressure button and the two blank buttons that are next to it have started to bubble up and crack. The tyre pressure button itself is fine and it still works it is just the top coating that is starting to show some signs of age. I am guessing the 3 or 4 days of really hot weather didn’t help much and could have melted to the top coating a little. The ESP button is unaffected so far, fingers crossed. Anyway my question is where can I buy a replacement tyre pressure button and the two blank buttons? I have looked on eBay but no joy, I can only find the (ESP button) I might be searching for the wrong thing and ect so any links would be great. Also when replacing the tyre pressure button do I need to VAG COM it or is it just a straight swap?

Thanks in advance.
Mrk V, GTI, 3dr, DSG, heated seats, winter pack, cruise control, rear parking sensors and now thanks to GizzyWizzy and SteveP in the MK6 section a RCD 510. Awesome!

I would have thought your local TSP would be the best place to buy genuine switches and blanks.

You should also just be able to swap the TPS button. I have had the battery off my Mk6 and everything worked straight away when I connected it back up, so no different to disconnecting a switch, I wouldn't have thought.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

One other thing I wouldn't do when the switch is out is do not turn on the ignition, I did this when my hazard light switch was out and then it caused the air bag light to stay permanently on, this may be different with the tyre switch but just to be on the safe side.
