sorry its a 1.9tdi non pd. it didnt snap but the tensioner fell apart a bit so the belt went a bit slack. going to re tension it and go from there. im hoping it was ok as the top and bottom tdc lined up ok but fuel pump was waaaay out. so its new engine really if pistons hit valves isnt it. my current engine has 177k anyway so not worth rebiulding in my opinion
Don't know about the valve angle on your engine but the compression ratio means it is not 'safe'.
It sounds like your luck is in as the cam is still timed to the crank.
If not - unless your luck is really bad you might just have a head to take off and put some new valves in. Lots of people just replace bent valves with new ones and are fine. Even if you get a friendly garage to do it, it might be cheaper than a second hand engine.
If your cam and crank stayed synchronised then thank your lucky stars and buy a lottery ticket tomorrow night...
