I haven't had em off yet, but before i agreen to buy it i looked all under the car, no rust or rot
then looked round the wheel arches, pulled back the inner arch covering and felt around, smooth in there, and the metal i could see was clean.
woman who owned it before me spared no expense, i have a book of receipts covering over £3k spent on her,
I will have a proper look and take the arches off when its not raining, but i'm fairly certain if it had rust at some point she had it sorted.
there's a receipt in the collection, one of the more expensive ones that were pointed out to me, the car had been broken into a few years back, door and handle shredded, window smashed, the works. she had restoration work done totalling about £1750, i believe it was a new rear passenger door and window fitted and paint work.
then the poor golf was in a bit of a bust up, and have a receipt for repairing dents and a new bumper.
she pretty much agreed to pay for anything mechanics told her to haha, there's charges of like £5.00 for a new locking nut from vw!!
so yeah will definately strip the exterior to reassure myself but from feeling around under the arches, i think she's solid
