Not sure what age the vehicle has to be for a classic insurance, but I'd say a mk2 might be old enough to fall into that category.
Go to smiths at lunchtime and look through some of the air cooled mags, like Volksworld, VW motoring and a few others that I can't remember and get some insurance numbers from the adverts in those. Actually, just give these a try and ask them the questions, these were the cheapest for my camper, they are called Faber Jardine or something and they are on 01604 639011.
