1998 - GOLF AVANTGARDE CONVERT - FRONT FOLDING SEAT ISSUE

Hello 2 All,

Just discovered that my front passenger seat no longer folds down to let rear passengers in.

When I lift the latch, it seems to release the left hand side of the seat, but the right side remains in place and will not budge. Is this something that could be repaired or is it a case of get a new seat??

you'll need to take the seat out and check the wires for the tilting mech (they can break and sometimes there really easy to spot and bodge back)

Bit of an old thread bump...does anyone have a guide/how-to on removing the seats and accessing the cables? Neither of the seats tilt in my MK3

Look at the guide about fitting mk4 seats that will show how to remove them its a sticky in the maintenance section

carefully remove the plastic runner strips on drivers seat which is located on drives side floor between seat and center console ,sqweeze the clip on the front seat which is in the centre of seat and remove the plastic locking tab on the opossite side slide seat back whilst holding the seat adjuster up .

Seriously, removing the front seats is a one man job and will literally take 5mins and no tools.

Yeah they came out no problem at all. In terms of sorting the folding issue out (snapped cables), I think the term 'jerry rigged' almost covers it
