P46
« on: 21 April 2012, 11:06 »
Been sent a student employee form and a P46 for my summer job as the secretary wasn't sure if I was a student or not, and just wondering if I have to fill the P46 in? I currently have another job which I'll be reducing the hours, to about 7 hours every few weeks, so do I tick option C "I have another job"?

And will my tax be seriously high even though my second job will be only a few hours every couple of weeks?

just answered your question there. even if it is only a few hours every few weeks its still another job. however if you can get paid cash in hand at that job then talk to your boss see if you can come to an arangement and put on the form you dont have another job

as for the tax question i havent a clue sorry.

Cash in hand not an option.

Reason I asked is because I thought the P46 was for a student as well, seeing as they weren't sure whether I was or not.

P46 is for new employees who start work without providing a P45.

You will be taxed on both incomes.

Simples.
