I don't know if you are able to help me, I have an R Reg MKIII Golf GTi 2.0 (8v) and broke down saturday evening. I was driving along and the engine suddently stalled and would not restart. The time the recovery service came out to me the engine started up first time and was fine. The Engineer had a look and couldn't diagnose a fault at the road side.
So I though maybe a one off, but then we broke down on Sunday too and couldn't get it started again. When I turned the key the starter moter turned over but the Oil Light was flashing. I checked the oil level but it was fine. This time I was towed to a nearby garage (NOT VW, but a VW specialist) .
The garage have had it two days but can't find anything wrong with it saying it starts every time and have done some tests in relation to the fuel management but are non the wiser.
I am a little concerned as this is primarily my girlfriends car and I don't want her to break down on her own late at night.
Does any one have any suggestions as to what it could be or what I should do about it? - It is still with the garage and they are going to take it on a long run tomorrow but any information I could give to them would be handy.
