Check number plate lights?!

Guys,

The same day i picked up the car i was occasionally getting a check number plate light warning on the dash, but the bulbs seemed fine!

So i have changed essentially all the bulbs in the car with the number plate lights just being a straight swap for other 501's and they are working perfectly fine but now the warning message is constantly on the dash?

Any ideas?!

Have you put 501 led's in the number plate lamps? Or w5w halogen bulbs?

For some reason it's hit and miss as to whether error free led's work in the golf or not so some have gone for replacement units with added resistors.
