i posted this in the garage but thought i would ask here too
can anyone help?? my Mk2 gti 8v has a ticking noise coming from the clocks and the faster i go the faster and noisier the ticking. can it be cured or is it a replacement??
some instruction would help too please

Is the speedo still working properly?  It could be that the plastic tab which holds the collar on to the mount is worn, and the cable is coming off at the back. You will need to get the front part of the dash off and get the clocks out to have a look.  Haynes manual tells you how, or plenty of folks here will have done it, a lot.

yer def the speedo cable nothing else moves in there but its a F**cker to change, unless you got a clock instead of rev counter but i doubt thats goner tick louder the faster you go.

i have the same problem it looked like a nightmare to mess about with so i abandoned the idea and bought bigger speakers  :grin:

try pushing the cable in from the engine bay. might even click itself back in place :undecided:
