yes... the golf haldex can catch you out if you are not used to the way it works. this looks like a classic case of not following the golden rule!!!

slow in fast out

Trust me... it caught me out once and it really was a brown trail moment. I soon learned my lesson.

Same article different Write up

an investigation is under way after a £40,000

Surely it can't be the same car as the other one was only £33,000

Fortunately, the car, which can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 5.7 seconds, was insured.

There's a novelty, "Fortunately it was insured!!!!!!!!"

Very true, I got caught out this morning. Had the car completely side ways going around a very big roundabout, I pulled onto the roundabout and floored, the car went sideways,  it did feel like a rear wheel drive car and was about to go into a tank slapper. I just lifted off the gas  and steered into it and luckily it corrected it self, but what a brown pants moment. Will not do that again. The R can be evil     I will take notice slow in fast out.

Good to here you got out of it tho....the first reaction is normally to brake but as you said....you've got to steer into it.
Good job!!

Good to hear you caught it!! Yes.. once you learn it, tis very rewarding to drive. Ultimately the golf is still quite a heavy car, so approach speed is quite important. You will always get the speed/traction you require on your way out
