Yes she's running fine now.
I swapped the head with one off a 2nd hand engine I bought, and again it made the same noise. This time I left her running and revving the engine but the noise did not disappear. The next day when I started her, she was quite as a mouse, weird..! - But I wasn't complaining.
I hope your top end rebuild goes ok..!
